Modular substations have a much smaller footprint than a conventional substation, which makes them practical to install in dense urban areas — on a commercial building's basement, a rooftop, or a small municipal plot — without a lengthy civil construction phase.
Because they're pre-fabricated and factory-tested, they can be deployed and commissioned quickly to keep pace with growing urban load, and can be relocated or scaled more easily than fixed infrastructure as demand shifts.
